| Nedbank CWG Auction Showcase |

Indulge in rare and exclusive wines while rubbing shoulders with some of South Africa‘s top winemakers at the 2010 Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction Showcase on Thursday, 12 August at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) and Thursday, 02 September at Nedbank Atrium in Sandton.
The Showcase offers wine lovers the opportunity to taste this year‘s line-up of outstanding Cape Winemakers Guild wines along with a selection of the members‘ own flagship wines. All the wines that will go under the hammer at the Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction at Spier in October this year, are made exclusively for the auction and selected meticulously by members of the Guild to represent the apex of South African winemaking achievement.
Unlike the wines bottled under the members‘ own labels, the Guilds Auction wines are selected at a blind tasting and only those showing technical excellence and maturation potential are chosen. This thorough process ensures that every wine boasting the CWG Auction label is of exceptional quality.
Wine lovers and collectors can look forward to bidding on rare wines from previous auctions, signed by the winemaker, as well as members‘ own cellar gems at a Silent Auction held at the Showcase. These wines include the CWG Villiera Terre Rouge 2005, CWG Boekenhoutskloof Syrah 2007 and CWG Engelbrecht Els 2007.
Proceeds from the Silent Auction will go towards the Nedbank CWG Development Trust. Founded in 1999, the Development Trust assists with education, training and empowerment of aspiring winemakers and includes the Guild‘s Protege Programme, a mentorship scheme for young, upcoming winemakers.
The Nedbank CWG Auction is open to the public and will take place on Saturday, 02 October at 09h00 at the Spier Conference Centre in the Stellenbosch Winelands. Telephonic and proxy bidding services are available to any interested parties unable to attend the Auction.
The Cape Town Showcase will be held at the CTICC in Cape Town and starts at 18h00 21h00 on Thursday, 12 August. The Johannesburg Showcase takes place on 02 September at The Atrium, in Sandton and starts at 18h30 21h30. Tickets to both events cost R 150.00 and include a tasting glass.
