Van Ryns Distillery on the banks of the Eerste River near Stellenbosch, has won two gold medals on the 2010 International Spirits Challenge (ISC) in London, maintaining its long-standing and glittering global reputation.
The latest accolades are for the Van Ryns 10 Year Old Vintage Brandy and the 15 Year Old Fine Cask Reserve. Both medalists were selected on the basis of blind judging, with Neil Mathieson of the esteemed retail specialist Eaux de Vie, serving as category chairman for cognacs, armagnacs and brandies submitted for consideration.
Says Gerhard du Toit, brand manager of Van Ryns: "The ISC, now in its 15th year, attracted 16% more entries than last year, given the status of the competition and the highly respected industry endorsement it brings. That Van Ryns continues to stand out amidst its competitors, year after year, is affirmation of the standards of excellence applied to crafting the Van Ryns Collection Reserve range."
Van Ryns has twice earned the title of Best Brandy on the ISC. It has also won the Worldwide Best Brandy award three times on the International Wine & Spirits Competition, also held in London. |
