De Toren is about to release the 2008 vintage of De Toren Z.
The "De Toren Z" has now established its own track record with its latest 92 point rating from Wine Enthusiast Magazine (U S A). This rating is only 1 point behind the 93 points awarded to the fabulous De Toren Fusion V 2007.
For those lovers of a Merlot driven 5 varietal blend there can be no better choice!
The maiden vintage produced 3 400 cases. In 2008 nature allowed us only 2 860 cases and our export markets have pre-ordered most of this vintage already. (400 cases alone to the U S A and 250 cases to Quebec in Canada). We therefore have a limited quantity available (and a couple of Magnums) for the local market and want to offer our loyal local supporters the first opportunity to get this wine.
Wine descriptor: Expressing delicate undertones of orange zest with a second wave of flavours revealing prunes, cinnamon, perfumed rose petals and sweet fruit, this wine builds anticipation towards the first sip. On the palate a well integrated tannin structure with expressive tones of hazelnut and black currant is rounded off with a mineral finish and fresh acidity that will see this wine mature well into the future, if stored carefully. This wine will accompany delicate, aromatic and flavourful foods.
