Fleur du Cap Triumphs With Three of Gold Medals in London

Fleur du Cap has triumphed in London scooping three gold medals from two of the worlds most prestigious wine competitions announced at the International Wine Fair. Both the 2010 vintages of Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Semillon and Viognier won gold medals at the 2011 International Wine Challenge, whilst the 2009 Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon clinched gold at the 2011 Decanter World Wine Awards.

Fleur du Cap brought home two of the 13 gold medals awarded to South African wines at the highly contested International Wine Challenge which boasts more than 10 000 entries and is regarded as possibly the best and most influential blind tasting in the world. A gold medal at this competition is equivalent to 95-100 on the 100-point scale and only wines scoring above 85 points receive medals in this tough competition. This year more than 370 winemakers, merchants and wine writers from around the world participated in the tasting panels.

The judges where highly complementary of the two Fleur du Cap wines describing the Unfiltered Viognier as "very appealing and elegant" and the Unfiltered Semillon as a "beautiful medley of lemons, apples and pears" and a "good example of South Africa".

The Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 was one of 26 South African wines to be awarded gold medals at this years Decanter World Wine Awards. The 211 strong tasting panel comprised Masters of Wine, top sommeliers, wine critics and wine writers from across the globe.
